UKRAINE ON THE CIS METALLURGIC PRODUCTS MARKET
The article provides the analysis of the structure and impact of trade relations between Ukraine and CIS countries on the market of steel products. The most urgent problems (further tightening of competition on the domestic and foreign markets of steel products, structural imperfections, a technological gap), constraining business activity of the participants of this market, and prospects for their further trade relations development are estimated in this article. The author considers causes of low innovation activity of Ukrainian steel market participants, focusing on the competitive advantages of steel production in Ukraine compared to metal products of the Russian Federation as a major competitor of Ukraine on the CIS steel market. In the article the author emphasizes the lack of competitive advantage in the Ukrainian segment of high-quality steel products, existence of a strong dependence of Ukrainian imports of steel products from a single supplier on the market of CIS countries.
